This week’s rave is in honor of the season opener of the Biggest Loser! It was so good! Wow! This past spring, Adam and I did Making the Cut by Jillian Michaels . Doesn’t this cover look intimidating?! Well, this plan is very intense, so the cover tells it all! This book is great. It has three different meal plans to fit your specific metabolic rate, that is determined by formulas and a survey that you take. It helps you on portion control, having a more balanced diet, and sodium intake. I didn’t realize that we needed to be integrating fiber into our diet, as well as “good fats” like nuts, avocado, and natural peanut butter. It also has a workout plan, but we just followed the meal part because we had a great workout plan in place already, our eating was just not good.
She also gives great tips and has recipes to go by for each of the plans. Making the Cut is great if you are needing a change to jump start your weight loss, or if you just need to lose and tone those last 10-20 lbs.

Here’s our story and results:
At the beginning of the year, Adam & I were very frustrated. I had gained 15 lbs. after my knee surgery, because I couldn’t exercise combined with the fact that it was the holidays. He had gained about 20 lbs. just because a lack of time to exercise due to work. So, we tried doing it ourselves. We developed a solid workout plan of working out 6 days a week with cardio and weight training. We were eating healthy meals, but we were seeing no results. This is because our portions were way out of whack! We would eat seconds every time after having a full plate. So, I was praying about what to do, and came across this book at Target and felt led to buy it. This has made a huge difference!
We did it hard core for two weeks. I’m not going to lie, it was really strict, and really hard. We had to plan out everything and count calories, and drink 10 servings of water a day. But, the first week I lost 6 lbs.!! We have continued to use the things we learned, and do the breakfast, lunch, and snacks from the book, and then create our own healthy balanced meals that are low in calories. In a two month period, Adam lost 20 lbs. and I lost 15 lbs. We have gained about 5 lbs. back each since then because we went on vacation and have splurged more lately than usual, but we are getting back on track now. Not only have we toned and lost weight, but it has helped me reduce our sodium intake, and I have cut back greatly on diet coke, which is huge!
Great job!! i’m sure it was hard work. Yeah, sodium is a KILLER for me too.
Thanks Katie! It was hard at first, but now that we’re used to it, it’s much easier because I know how to shop for better/healthier items at the grocery.
That’s awesome! I have been considering buying this and 30-day-shred, more for the workouts though but I’m glad to hear that the diet part of it gave you such great results.
Way to go! That is awesome for both you and your husband.
